My name is Tim Rod. I am an avid triathlete, and when I started this blog, I was ambitiously aiming to complete my first Ironman distance race on August 3rd, 2014. I successfully completed the race, but it was the learning experience of a lifetime!
As you will see from my blog, I’m obsessed with data. Any kind of data. I currently use trainingpeaks.com to track my training, nutrition, and metrics. You can find my profile at trainingpeaks.com/timrod
I attempted to chronicle my life and times over the 8 months prior to the race, in pursuit of one of my lifetime dreams, completing an Ironman. I grew up in Hawaii, where the Ironman was “invented” for all practical purposes. I left Hawaii in 1989, and have lived in many places, but finally moved to Colorado in 2002. Now, more than a decade later, I remain in love with this state. In fact, this blog is dedicated to the sport of triathlon in Colorado, and particularly in Boulder, CO. Thus, the name…. 5430tri. At 5,430 feet above sea level, Boulder is known as a triathlete’s mecca for living and training.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. I hope that I can count on you as a follower, and that you can be entertained and informed by my learnings and observations from my endurance training life!
